HealthOne® is an ER in your community. More about HealthOne®...
The staff at Mainland Medical Center works as a team to ensure we invest back into the community we serve. We are proud to be involved with numerous community organizations that enhance Galveston County.
Ring the Bell
On December 5th, many employees and their families donated their time to the Salvation Army, and rang the bell at the two entrances of the La Marque Wal Mart. They did an outstanding job, and at one point one of the pots became completely full and had to be replaced. We are very fortunate to have such wonderful employees and such a giving community. A special thank you to Sylvia Yanas for pulling together the list of volunteers who participated.
Little Angels in Need
In the spirit of giving, employees gave to 74 angels in need of Christmas gifts. Every year, MMC adopts angels from the Empty Stocking Program. A special thank you to Beth Cummings for organizing our annual Angel Tree.
Thanksgiving Dinner Baskets

A very big THANK YOU to everyone who provided items for our Thanksgiving Dinners that were given to 30 families at MI Lewis and HIS Ministry’s.
MMC employees have shown that they are very caring and compassionate when it comes to helping out those in need in our communities and in the HCA family. Our goal for 2009 was $53,000. We exceeded that amount collecting a total of $54,407.36. A special thank you to Teri Powers for your continued effort to raise money for these charities.
Small contributions to our charities really add up! For a $5 contribution, employees who wore jeans on Friday raised money for local and national charities.

Mainland Medical Center honored those who serve our country with a unique display arranged by hospital auxiliary volunteers. Participants celebrated Veteran’s Day by displaying pictures and mementos of family members and friends who are currently serving or have served in the military.
Booths were set up and photos, medals, letters and other personal memorabilia were displayed against a red, white and blue backdrop. Patients and employees stopped by to visit with auxiliary members and to hear their stories of service. Many volunteers have a family history in the military and had several generations represented in today’s display.
Pride was evident in the faces and voices of those who remembered friends, fellow employees, children and relatives and their dedication to our country. The response of visitors was overwhelming and Mainland Medical Center plans to continue the tradition in years to come.
